Akron Children’s Hospital is seeking a Pediatric Emergency Medicine physician to provide specialized family centered care for acutely ill/injured infants, children and teens in our Mahoning Valley Emergency Department located on the Beeghly campus near Youngstown, OH. The candidate we seek will be BE/BC in Pediatric Emergency Medicine.
The Akron Children’s Hospital Beeghly campus houses a 32-bed inpatient unit; 24/7 Emergency Room, outpatient surgical services; laboratory, pharmacy and radiology services; rehabilitation services (physical, occupational and speech); a special care nursery, subspecialty services, transport services; and an EEG lab.
The Emergency Department sees approximately 28,000 visits annually. The ED has 10 beds which operate 24/7 along with 6 Fast Track/Minor Emergency Beds and 2 observation rooms that are currently operational 10 to 12 hours per day. Our Beeghly campus ER collaborates with the Akron campus and the local St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital which are designated trauma centers. Patients are transported to these campuses as appropriate.
Akron Children’s is affiliated with Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED). Appointment to the faculty at the appropriate level will be recommended and fully supported. Residents from local family practice and emergency residency programs rotate through the ED as well as medical students from NEOMED and LECOM. Paramedic students also rotate through for education.
