Akron Children’s Hospital is seeking a physician clinical geneticist to serve as a full time member of a Regional Genetics Center serving Northeast Ohio. The Genetics Center currently has 4 clinical geneticists, 7.5 FTE genetic counselors, and 1 nurse.
Applicant must be an M.D. eligible for licensure in Ohio and is American Board of Medical Genetics eligible or certified in Clinical Genetics. Additional areas of eligibility or certification (particularly biochemical and/or molecular genetics) are also desirable.
Clinical responsibilities include the Inpatient Consultation Services, Outpatient Services (Genetics Clinic) and Outreach Clinics held at various sites in Northeast Ohio (Boardman, Norwalk, Portage, Mansfield, and Holmes). There are several subspecialty clinics in which candidates would be expected to participate including: prenatal, metabolic, cancer genetics, Neuromuscular, skeletal dysplasia, myelodysplastic, CF, hemophilia, Down syndrome, Fragile X syndrome, Turner syndrome, and craniofacial clinics.
Academic responsibilities include participating in the education activities at Medical Genetics Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED), Residents, Students, Fellows of different subspecialties, Clerkships, and supervising Genetic Counseling Students. Candidates will also be expected to participate in research activities. Appointment to the NEOMED is available.
